Listen to music

Did you feel so planned not to buy that new CD and put it outside now still in the closet? You cannot help it, suggests new research. It is the fault of your brain, or - more precisely - your adjacent core. Kyle Leon the most professional fitness experts

Scientists at McGill University showed subjects a piece of music heard that they had never heard. Then they looked at what was happening in the brain, or brain activity could be used to predict whether the subjects where this song on a CD was, would buy used.

Adjacent core

"When people listen to a song they've never heard before, then the activity in a part of the brain predict whether they like it and want to buy a reliable and consistent way," says researcher Valerie Salam Poor. The part of the brain where it refers to, is adjacent the core, the part of the brain that is involved in the formation of certain expectations.

Expectations

We humans are constantly certain expectations and when these are met or exceeded, gives us that feel good (reward). But those expectations are almost always related to survival and include for example food and sex. Scientists show with this study that we have expectations when we are working with more abstract stimuli such as music. Also, it proves that we even have expectations when these stimuli are completely new to us.
